Paris Plages Summer Fun

Paris Plages, which translates as Paris Beaches, takes place in Paris, for 4 weeks, from the 17th July. During this period, riverside roads, along the banks of the Seine, are rendered car free and urbanised cityscapes become verdantly green, creating beach like resorts, for the public. Indulge in delicious ice cream, while attending free concerts given to the public, at Paris Plages.

The Port de la Gare, Louvre/Pont de Sully and Bassin de la Villette, are favourite spots where tourists and locals congregate, while making the most out of the Paris Plages. You can partake in various activities, such as roller-blading, wall climbing, Tai Chi, kayaking, rowing and volleyball, on the beaches, or simply relax and unwind, while soaking up the glorious summer sun. There are a choice of wonderful restaurants, at the Bassin de la Villette, while refreshments and deck chairs are available at the Louvre and Pont de Sully beaches. All the beaches open up at 8am, until midnight.

Beaches in Paris by Daumier exhibition

Also, be sure to catch the exhibition, Beaches in Paris by Daumier, while in the city. This presentation, showcasing at the Maison de Balzac, which was home to the famous novelist, draws attention to leisurely moments, spent by Parisians, on the river Seine. You'll get to see an excellent presentation, featuring forty of Daumier's original prints and paintings from the Museum of the Ile de France and Carnavalet, from the 20th June till 28th September. Tours, lectures, literary choreography and children's workshops are also available.
