Illuminations on the Champs-Elysees have become, over the years, an essential part of the Parisian festive season! Each winter, the most beautiful avenue in the world is swathed in fairy lights mesmerising passersby of all ages.
Illuminations on the Champs-Elysees: some details
You have until the 10th January to come and admire the magical illuminations, created by ACT Lighting Design. The Belgian design agency has a 5-year commission (from last year through to 2015) to light up the Champs-Elysées. Tree rings, luminous rings of different diameters, have been placed on the 200 plane trees lining the avenue. To make the display even more spectacular than in 2011, sparkling garlands have also been added to the top of the trees, and LEDs fixed to the branches.
The German actress Diane Kruger will switch on these superb illuminations on 21st November, alongside the Mayor of Paris. The Champs-Elysees lights can then be seen every day, from 6 in the evening through to 2 in the morning. On New Year’s Eve, they will be left to sparkle all night, enchanting the thousands of revellers expected to gather on this famous avenue to ring in the New Year! www.parisinfo.com
