The arrival of sunny days is coinciding with a gradual return to a normal daily life. Take advantage of your stay at the Hôtel Marais Bastille to soak up the inimitable ambiance of Parisian guinguettes. We’ve prepared a guide to the best of these waterside bar/restaurants for you, so please read on.
The Nouvelle Seine, top guinguette in the 5th arrondissement of Paris
Head to the Quai de Montebello to climb onboard a barge offering convivial cuisine based around seasonal produce and an excellent selection of French wines. Here you’ll find some unusual spaces, including a performance hall that features regular plays, shows and concerts.
The Nouvelle Seine opens its doors from Wednesday to Sunday from noon to 14:15, but it's between 19:00 and 23:00 that the guinguette ambiance really gets into full swing.
The essential guinguettes of the 4th arrondissement
Let’s stay on the banks of the Seine because that’s where Monsieur Pélican awaits. This floating guinguette also boasts an inviting riverside terrace, so it’s up to you to choose whether you prefer to stay on the riverbank or relax on the deck of the barge. Comfort and indulgence are guaranteed in a warm and welcoming atmosphere from noon to midnight. This year, juggling bartenders and a ball are some of the activities planned for Bastille Day on July 14th.
Opposite the Ile Saint Louis, you’ll find Les Maquereaux. On the menu of this moored houseboat are oysters from Brittany, tender burrata, foie gras produced by Maison Dubernet and much more... and all this to the rhythm of music. The Terrasse à Quai is open every day from noon to 01:00.
Barapapa, creating a buzz in the 12th arrondissement
If you like street food, we advise you to head to Barapapa, a waterfront terrace on the Port de la Râpée. A cool hipster crowd gathers to enjoy fresh fruit cocktails, dance, savour Italian focaccia and more. The space places a strong emphasis on relaxation and is ideal for getting away from everyday routine.
The buzz of this trendy hotspot awaits you from Monday to Sunday from 11:00 to 02:00.
Petit Bain, a pearl of the 13th arrondissement
Moored at the Port de la Gare, close to the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand, is the Petit Bain, a superb floating cultural venue. Spread over 3 levels, it includes a restaurant extended by a terrace, a green roof terrace and a 450-seat concert hall. It’s even equipped with its own recording studio.
The Petit Bain welcomes customers from 18:00, Tuesday to Sunday. From Tuesday to Thursday and on Sunday it closes at midnight. However, the party goes on until 02:00 on Fridays and Saturdays.
All these guinguettes are easily accessible from the Hotel Marais Bastille. Choose the one that has the kind of vibe you prefer or, better yet, discover them all and create some wonderful memories of your summer in the heart of the City of Light.
