A popular, cosmopolitan and trendy district, Bastille has a very large choice of restaurants and offers great opportunities for enjoying a fine meal. To start this new year in a delicious way, come along with the Hôtel Marais Bastille team as we take you to discover some great places to eat, among which are some of our favourites. Great gastronomy, world cuisine, bistro… There’s something for all tastes and all budgets.
The chic of Parisian cuisine
Let’s start our gourmet journey with two exceptional eateries. The first, the Septime, was awarded a Michelin macaron for its fine and inventive cuisine. Amidst a sophisticated industrial style of décor that is totally in the spirit of the neighbourhood, chef Bertrand Grébaut expertly creates some very trendy dishes with well-defined epicurean roots. The friendly service adds an extra level of enjoyment. There’s no pretentions, just great food served in a relaxed atmosphere. Not far from there is the second address we wish to draw to your attention, a real neighbourhood institution: the Bistrot Paul Bert. There you will find the quintessence of family cooking with gourmet dishes steeped in tradition but prepared with a distinctly contemporary spirit. The country terrine, bone marrow dishes, shepherd's pie, veal blanquette and sole meunière will delight you so much you might not have much room left for the delicious Paris-brest, tarte tatin or floating island when the time comes for dessert! Please note that they also have a great wine selection!
A gastronomic journey in the 11th arrondissement
Embark on a delicious gourmet journey just a few steps from the Hotel Marais Bastille! True to its cosmopolitan reputation, the district boasts restaurants offering inspiring cuisine from the four corners of the world. Why not start with a trip to China, courtesy of the Auciel? The Auciel restaurant highlights Chinese fondue. Using fragrant broths, of varying degrees of spiciness, you create your own menu. You select the ingredients of your choice to dip in your fondue. A real delight for you to enjoy amidst the tasteful decor and tranquil atmosphere. A few steps away, you can head to India at the Delhi Bazaar. This restaurant, with its classic and colourful interiors, perfectly combines the culinary traditions of the subcontinent with a contemporary feel. The result is a very modern and always captivating cuisine. Finally, we really fell in love with a small canteen-style restaurant: Mokonuts. A lovely wooden counter, two attractive personalities and a cuisine with Levantine influences and a multitude of flavours are what you can expect.
It's easy to dine well in the 11th arrondissement, where there’s something for all tastes and budgets. The Hotel Marais Bastille team will be happy to share with you its recommendations and experiences in the neighbourhood’s restaurants. Just a few steps from the hotel, particularly in the very lively Rue de Charonne, you’ll discover what makes up the spirit and charm of the Faubourg Saint-Antoine.
